Coaching and mentoring can sometimes be confused since both roles are about offering years of experience to a situation or relationship. The biggest difference is that a mentor focusses on advising whilst a coach will assist the owner in goal planning and keep them accountable, so they achieve success.
Ultimately the business owner determines the speed and passion in which the goals are met. A coach will help link the business owners personal dreams, goals and plan for themselves, which makes achieving the business goal more desirable, even exciting.
A business coach will help plan, prioritise what goals and strategies are needed to help progress the business closer to its goal. A coach will meet with the business owner regularly, either weekly or monthly, to keep them on track to the commitments made during the past coaching session.
